They say confidence is the best cosmetic. Someone who feels good about themselves, has pride and power in their direction, takes care of themselves, exudes confidence. Not in an arrogant way as though I am better than others, or a projection, mask or pretending, but in a way that comes forward as an equal meeting others equal. Confidence says, I am magnificent and come to meet your magnificence. None better or worse, individual and unique.
Our culture frowns upon being full of yourself yet who else are you to fill with. You, your spirit, your way, your divine spark is the only way to fill! Often, especially among woman, if one appears confident, others less confident will secretly criticize or separate from one filled with confidence. It is quite crazy! I was fortunate to grow up in a crowd of woman whom all felt special, beautiful, powerful in our own ways and all were celebrated.
To be in love with yourself is to carry your wonder eloquently. To feel your are witty and intelligent in whatever subjects you are. To feel beautiful in your skin, highlight your assets and accept all of your body being as it is. Yes, maybe be working on some parts but not concerned that they are what defines you or you beauty. To feel able to speak, share your wisdom, have a voice and be counted. To feel comfortable in your own skin and open to others brilliance. To love and nourish those around you as well as yourself. To be an asset to all you get involved with and know you contribute.
The list could go on and on. It is truly accepting yourself, filling yourself and having less need from others. Not that you don't love to receive from others, you just aren't hopelessly waiting for that. You can get your needs filled yourself. This instills confidence so you are not dependent on conditions or others to do for you.
We all could do this more. Truly find the things we so love of ourselves. It is part of knowing yourself. Knowing your assets, what are your skills, traits and gifts that make you a sparkly gem like no other. Often these things are so natural that we forget how valuable they are. They are what we, uniquely add to the world. They are needed and necessary and we should be boldly aware of them, feel grand to have and share them. There is nothing wrong with this!! It is important and a worthy practice to take inventory of our greatness to ourselves! We should revel and cherish what we are, even cultivate other wonders.
Our world has us all looking at the wrong, bad, distasteful, unruly parts of ourselves. It has created horrible self talk that we in reality, use against ourselves and it will never clear these traits. I am for a movement to shift that perspective to a positive self talk for us to feel our magnificence. Certainly, we all have things that need to grow and learn but why make it such a hardship. We love to expand, explore and become better for we are spirits. Life would be boring if all was well in place and there was nothing to do. Feeling your strengths, knowing, acknowledging your gifts, riding them to the fullest to get through the other parts is a smarter way to grow.
As we are in this month of gratitude I suggest we all spend time in self gratitude. I have no doubt that most of you will be thankful for all the blessings around you. So consider focusing on the blessing you are. Really defining it, noticing and reveling in that. Even making a list of all your assets on all levels so you can begin to feel the sense of self love. We love others, our children, our parents, our friends, our pets but what about ourselves? Do we look with eyes of love in the mirror? Do we have gratitude for all the good we do without even trying? All the giving, kindness and support that we don't even think twice to do?
So fall in love with yourself this holiday season! Take time to really celebrate you as you are celebrating others. It will create such a glow and beauty that will be like magic. Appreciate your body for all you put it through and it still keeps going. Celebrate your outer beauty, your eyes, hair, shape, smile or twinkly eyes. We all love parts of our body so embrace and adore them. Honor all you do for others, your family, community and even those you don't know. The power you have to lift others or sit with them in strife. Revel in the growth you have in so many areas for it is natural part of life. We are growing, changing and becoming. We don't always notice for we are too focused on what isn't working rather than all the things that are.
Go ahead and give yourself permission to really love yourself! Buy a present or two for yourself. Take that class, get that massage or facial. Take five to regroup and find peace. Serve yourself the best piece of pie or the best part of the turkey. It is not selfish to care for yourself. It is necessary and will honor the greatness you are. Ride by all the training in your head that yells at you and says no. You are important enough, you deserve it, you earned so enjoy the fruits of your work.
Waiting for others to love us is a waste of time. As we fall in love with ourselves, others will as well. Confident, well kept people attract the same. So above, so below. As within, so without. That's how the reflection works. These are not just words they are laws. So play with this idea of falling in love.
Fall in love with you!! Your inner glow will mesmerize all and be reflected back. And watch the magic happen about you!
